It seems there is a lot of shock here on OS about the fact that CM Punk suddenly and magically became "good". Nothing could be further from the truth.

He has always been good.

In his indie days, he was the best chicken $hi+ heel in the business, an art form that has been lost in translation. In a time where everybody wants to look "strong", Punk wasn't afraid to beg off. The heel heat he got then was probably magical, too.

It's not that he suddenly got good, it's that WWE never gave him a chance. They used his entire heel turn to try to get these guys in the Nexus over, unsuccessfully, I might add. Punk got sick of that, and decided to "move on". Sure, it's a work, but WWE, when they thought he really was leaving, decided to do what they always do. "Just let him be himself." (Ring a bell, Ringmaster?) Lo and behold, "himself" is the best heel in the business! And we are all shocked! So now we have no choice but to not see CM Punk on Monday nights, because the WWE painted themselves into a creative corner by continuing lackadaisical booking. "There is no competition, so we can book how we want to expand our brand into the mainstream. Sorry, WRESTLING fans."

Turns out the WRESTLING fans were right and now WWE is scrambling to fix things. You can only hotshot book for so long, ask WCW. So the only real remedy is to start entertaining the FANS, and not Vince. Let's hope that happens. I am ready to be entertained. Let's hope Punk's return is as big as it can and should be.

Agreed. I've liked him for a long time.

I never really knew much about him prior to the WWE. I am more of the casual wrestling fan. The one that watches the shows on DVR so I can watch the interviews and the superstars on the mic. Once a match starts I fast forward it. But as for Punk, I loved him whenever he got on the mic. Pure Entertainment!
